Goodell Gives Tarrytown Firefighter Battling Cancer Super Bowl Tickets

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A Tarrytown firefighter facing a fate scarier than a burning building is going to live out a lifelong dream courtesy of Westchester native and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Goodell - who hails from Bronxville - surprised firefighter Bill Duggan, who recently received news that he had terminal brain cancer, with tickets to Super Bowl 52, which will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Duggan, a member of Hope Hose was received his diagnosis several weeks ago, prompting his friends and family to launch a campaign to help him accomplish his lifelong dream: to attend the Super Bowl.

According to members of the Tarrytown Fire Department, last week, representatives from the NFL contacted the organizers of “Bill’s Bucket List” on behalf of Goodell, who said “they had a surprise” for the longtime firefighter. On Sunday, Goodell made a surprise appearance at the Tarrytown Firehouse on Main Street and presented Duggan with the tickets, much to the surprise

“We heard about your fight, we’ve heard how you’ve made the community better for 41 years, and we wanted to give you these,” Goodell said in a video posted by the department.

In a statement, the Tarrytown Fire Department said they want “to personally thank Commissioner Goodell and the National Football League for their generosity and support of a man who truly deserves this gift.”
