The Hamilton Red Raiders earned a spot in the state Class C playoffs with a 50-40 victory over Haldane Saturday in the Section 1 tournament at the County Center. Tuxedo will represent upstate Section 9.

Hamilton is led by Tiffany Corselli, who scored 29 points in the victory over Haldane and was the Section 1 tournament Most Valuable Player, and Jasmine Robinson, who added 21 points.

“We knew a lot of people doubted us, but we knew we could do it,” Robinson said. “It feels great because this is the second time in a row for us.”

The Red Raiders overcame an injury to team leader Maia Hood, who has been rehabilitating a right knee injury since early February.

"It's tough to watch," Hood said as she toured the County Center on crutches. "But I'm feeling better and the team is playing great."

Hamilton will advance to this weekend's state regional championship game with a victory.
