WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Hastings High School graduate Ali Marpet, a star center on the football team at Division III Hobart College in upstate New York, is touted to be a second-or third-round draft pick in this week’s NFL Draft, according to multiple reports.
Despite his combination of size (he's 6-foot-4, 307 pounds) and speed (he can run the 40-yard-dash in under five seconds) and his impressive stats , most sports fans had not heard of Marpet until Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson, himself a former Division III standout, stepped in and helped get the word out about Marpet.
Also in this week’s running to be drafted is Pelham resident Sean Donnelly , a student at Tulane University. He is a 6-foot-8, 297-pound offensive tackle.
