Irvington Football Looking for First Win Saturday

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Irvington and John F, Kennedy enter their game Saturday both looking for their respective first win. The Bulldogs played well in their season-opener for new coach Mike Oliva. Irvington lost to Briarcliff, 32-29, but the Bulldgos received a a 100-yard rushing game and two touchdowns from bruising fullback Kevin Degnan. Irvington’s defense stifled Briarcliff’s running game, led by Alex Bennett and Chris DiNardo. Bennett had a sack and also blocked a punt, which resulted in a touchdown. Kennedy was shut out by Croton, but did rush for 111 yards. The Gaels will have extra adrenaline as they debut on their new turf field.
