ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Jasmine Robinson always has been a fine offensive player, but the Alexander Hamilton senior guard has focused on setting up teammates Maia Hood and Tiffany Corselli this season.

With Hood and Corselli sidelined with injuries Thursday, Robinson broke out and showed how electric her offensive game can be.

Robinson poured in a game-high 34 points, keeping Hamilton in the game before Blind Brook prevailed, 58-50. She also finished with five steals, four blocks and four assists. Nicole Velasco came off the bench and finished with a season-high eight points.

“Jasmine showed another whole level of her game,” Hamilton coach Benjamin Carter said. “With Maia and Tiffany, Jasmine tends to lay back. Adding that level of intensity, which she did tonight, will just open up the floor for her even more. It will also help us out as a team, big time.”

Robinson scored 21 of her 34 points in the second half as she kept Hamilton within striking distance of Blind Brook. Robinson was aggressive, taking the ball to the basket for an assortment of lay-ups and pull-up jumpers.

Her play did not go unnoticed by Blind Brook coach Manny Martinez.

“I give Jasmine a lot of credit,” Martinez said. “She played with a lot of heart out there tonight.”

Robinson’s intense play spread as many of the players capitalized on their extended playing time. Hamilton gained confidence through Robinson’s leadership.

“I told the girls in practice that they have to believe in what they can do,” Carter said of playing without Hood and Corselli. “The girls understood that mental aspect of the game today. They gave it 110 percent and left it all on the floor.”
