Robinson, Hamilton Girls Look to Postseason

ELMSFORD, N.Y. – The Hamilton girls basketball team blew through the regular season with a 16-2 record and head into Wednesday’s opening round of the Section 1 Class C playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

The Red Raiders, under Coach Benjamin Carter, boast a balanced offense led by Maia Hood, Amani Lightbourne, Jasmine Robinson and Ayanna Bhagan, and a pressure defense that can be a game changer.

The Raiders are favored to win the title and hope to move ahead in regional and state championship play.

Robinson, in her first season with the Raiders, answered three questions about her team and its prospects as the playoffs begin:

How has the team improved since the start of the season?

We have improved an enormous amount since the start of the season. There were a couple newcomers including myself that my teammates had to build chemistry with.

What are the team’s strengths?

We play together as a unit and bought into our coach Benji Carter’s system. We also have great defensive intensity, which creates numerous offensive opportunities. We have a number of players that can lead the team on any given night.

What are the keys to success in the postseason?

Looking forward to the post season, we need to keep up the hard work we put in the gym during practice and at game time. Starting with our first County Center game, everyone will see a very different Hamilton team, thirsty to win it all.
