WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Walking The Westchester mall may be beneficial to your health.
Seniors in search of individually designed programs for better fitness will be given a presentation by the SilverSneakers fitness program and the White Plains Family YMCA, on Friday, August 5, at The Westchester in White Plains.
The SilverSneakers program offers physical activity, health education and social events designed exclusively for Medicare-eligible individuals throughout the country. The program is presented by the national organization Healthways, which provides specialized, comprehensive health and care to help people maintain or improve their health and help reduce overall healthcare costs.
During the presentation, mall walkers will learn about the benefits of the program, as well as how they can access the organization’s signature fitness classes in the area, such as “YogaStretch,” “Cardio Circuit,” and “Muscular Strength and Range of Movement.”
The program begins at 9 a.m. at the Food Court on Level 4. Admission and parking are free for members of the mall walk program.
Sponsored by Westchester County Parks, the program offers year-round indoor health walking at Westchester’s premier mall on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
To join the mall walk program, sign up at the horse fountain plaza between Crate & Barrel and Restoration Hardware on retail level two of the mall, on Tuesday and Friday mornings during the program.
