Valhalla's Lucas Van Bramer Honored As Scholar-Athlete

VALHALLA, N.Y. -- A senior and scholar-athlete at Valhalla High School has been named as a winner of the Doc Rasbeck Academic Award by the Westchester/Rockland/Dutchess/Putnam Interscholastic Ice Hockey League, according to a statement from the Valhalla school district.

Lucas Van Bramer was recently presented with the award, which is given to a 12th-grade student who excels on the ice as well as in the classroom.

Van Bramer serves as goalie for the Ice Cats and has been on the team for four years. His GPA and SAT scores both were exemplary, according to the school district. Additionally, he participates in the high school's National Honor Society, is president of the World Language Honor Society and has previously received the Harvard-Radcliffe Book Award for academic excellence.

Van Bramer also was a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
