Seriously, have Costco move into a 50,000 square foot building in the middle of town instead of the 150,000 they want? How ridiculous can you get? It's not the right size building, and even if it were, do you want something like that in the middle of town and force everyone to use the single lane roads to get there? The nice thing about where Costco will (hopefully) be is that many customers can get there via the Taconic and avoid local roads. And having Costco across the street from BJ's is not as ridiculous as you might think. They're right down the road from each other in Brookfield, CT and both seem to be doing fine. View Comment
What tax concessions did BJ's get? None that I am aware of. They didn't even need approval for it since it was an existing shopping center, as I recall. Costco has not asked for tax concessions, either. View Comment
Why would anyone let Con Ed select an ESCO for them?? I have yet to find an ESCO that can actually save me money, and I've looked at a bunch. Randomly picking one would be incredibly foolish. View Comment
Electric rates are at their lowest of the year in January, not highest (that would be the summer). And it's only the delivery rate that they are freezing. The supply cost is still based on the market and can go up (or down). View Comment
The town does not own the properly in question. It's not like they could refuse to let the owner build something. Would you rather have houses there? And the town has plenty of town owned open space already. View Comment
This is just ridiculous. Can they start arresting the truck drivers that do this and put them in jail and confiscate their trucks? Maybe if they do something extreme like this, their fellow truckers will get the message. View Comment
I've noticed that a lot of the "WRONG WAY" signs are not angled very well and look the same when you're going the right way on the entrance ramp as when you're going the wrong way on the exit ramp next to it (since the sign is in the area between the two). View Comment
So you'll put in spikes, cars will get stuck on the exit ramp after that happens, and then you can have a head-on collision with the first car trying to exit after that happens, and a pile up of other cars exiting after that. I don't think so. View Comment
I think they meant that his PUBLIC views have changed.
BTW, Daily Voice, do you suppose you can find a picture of Katz that's actually in focus? It can't be that hard to find.
And I'd love to see him voted out. View Comment
If it's not the first time this has happened at the Montrose Deli, then I'm not sure I'd agree with you. And it would be interesting to hear if it was the owner or some employee who let it happen this time. View Comment
Well, they make it seem like they're doing something special in cases like this. I think what they do allow is maybe boarding at a higher zone than normal (for example, Mt Kisco is a more expensive zone than Croton, where my son would usually get the train). View Comment
Yeah, they put the local town's name in on each site to make you read the crappy article. The Yorktown site said "Yorktown Shoppers Search For Black Friday Deals". At least they didn't mark it as breaking news and email it to us. You'll notice the URL (for me, at least) says "westchester-county-shoppers-search-black-friday-deals" View Comment
As long as we're stuck in the same district as Putnam we will be stuck with Greg, unless he decides to move onto bigger and better things (as is rumored). I personally look forward to him getting elected to something that solely has him serving the residents of Putnam County. View Comment
