"most of it goes to homeless or animal pounds" Really??. Per a hunter at the forum: 600 pounds of 7,000 were donated to food banks. Too bad I didn't get to ask him if the rest went to animal "pounds"

The Department of Environmental CONSERVATION (!) (DEC) stated objective 2.1 is to "promote RECREATIONAL hunting, among all New Yorkers, as a safe, enjoyable and ETHICAL activity and as the primary tool to manage deer populations." Note carefully: This is recreational hunting for “enjoyment”- it is not hunting for subsistence, to feed one’s family. The DEC supports itself by hunters’ permits, licenses and fees, and by spreading its biased propaganda to communities to contract hunters.
Ethical? Are you going to let the DEC/Parks Department/politicians/ decides what is ethical/decent/fair/honorable/upright? Neither gunshots nor arrows, nor trapping and shooting a metal rod into the trapped, terrified deer’s brain are ethical, when done for enjoyment/fun/pleasure/amusement.
EVERY single one of the “experts” who advocate killing use smokescreens, as the rationale to kill deer. To take only one example: “they” scapegoat the deer for loss of forests, totally ignoring deforestation as the result of human activity.
In an April 2015 DEC press release, “Forestry Successes in Central New York Result in Positive (sic) Impacts for State and Local Residents” the DEC Sherburne achievements include: “Completing 92 timber sales resulting in 1,804,000 board feet and $1,746,305 in revenue…to provide quality timber for the state and regional markets.”
Hello - The deer didn’t destroy those 1.8 million feet of forest!
Well said. Thanks for your encouraging support. I attended the Deer "Management" Forum in Rye on Feb. 25th. It was disgusting and horrendous. For 60 minutes the panel put out their agenda - to bring bow and arrow hunters not only to Marshlands (County park in Rye) but also promoting KILLING deer on individual property owners'. Why? because deer eat their plants and trees. and Because people don't want to even to have to be inconvenienced by having to go around deer in their driveways...Then, comments were "allowed". Five animal advocates spoke for non-lethal methods and coexistence for 3 minutes each. this interspersed with 6 Rye homeowners who want to "get rid of the deer." A HORROR. View Comment
We have met the enemy
and he is us.

@mt12345 can't find nature advocate's comment. Was it removed? (last year, the same person posted:

Here's another good TNR facts page that was put up not long ago.
tnrfactcheck D0T org SLASH tnr-handbook.html
There are tomes of links and information there that give to everyone the clearest picture of all of what their failure of self-serving TNR-delusions are really all about. Not to mention what every last TNR advocate disrespectfully does to every other life on the planet -- animal and human included. Everyone involved in TNR might be particularly pleased with the photos there of what their loving and humane euthanasia by "attrition" truly looks like. It's no longer their delusional, safe, and psychotic "out of sight, out of mind" way of torturing cats and other animals to death anymore.
I hope you enjoy the photos at that link of how your TNR'ed cats die. Everyone else on the planet already sees these phenomenally ignorant TNR freaks for what they truly are -- torturers of all animal life on earth -- just because they are too spineless and heartless to give a cat a humane death the one time when they could have died peacefully that way. Heartless and cruel doesn't even begin to describe these mentally and morally crippled TNR cat-lickers.
I guess 25 road-kill cats hanging in trees wasn't enough to teach you what happens to every last one of your stray cats. What's it going to take before you phenomenally amoral, criminally irresponsible, criminally negligent, and reprehensible cat-licking cretins begin to learn? 100 dead cats in a tree? 1,000? Let us know how many of your cats that you torture to death with your "humane and loving attrition" will have to be shoved in your faces until you all grow up into responsible and respectable adults.
Huge thanks to Yonkers and ADOW! In our present societal culture of killing - people killing people, people killing animals - it is encouraging to know that there are cities and individuals who have compassionate reverence for life. View Comment
@ Coca - and all you good people out there:
Go to http://getinvolved.alleycat.org/site/PageServer?pagename=20140429_yonkers
AlleyCat.org (which was the first organization to offer $750 reward has a way to donate. ALSO, they have a petition to sign.
Alley Cat Allies
Sign the Petition: Stand Against Animal Cruelty!
The discovery of 25 cats in Yonkers, NY, killed and hung from a tree is a tragic example of animal cruelty.
Cases of cruelty are happening around the country, sometimes at the hand of law enforcement authorities themselves, and are highly publicized, but rarely investigated and prosecuted.
We need to come together now behind a simple message: Every cat deserves justice, and every life matters.
Join Alley Cat Allies in demanding every instance of animal cruelty be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
We have huge problems with climate change, polar vortex, and all this snow/cold.
Re USA Today: "Winter's costs are piling up"
The costs of lost flights from Dec.1 through Feb. 28 is an estimated $5.8 billion.
It's a staggering amount of money - WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GEESE!
People need to wake up - and stop scapegoating geese and other wildlife.
Oh, for heaven's sake - don't "people" remember:
No Swimming At Mamaroneck Beaches After Sludge Leaks Into The Sound
by The Daily Voice News 07/15/13
This was the second time this past l summer that Sound beaches were closed. (First time it was because of Tropical Storm Andrea.
Wake up, officials - and smell the HUMAN sewage. And stop scapegoating wildlife. It ain't the geese! View Comment
