Like bringing back gun shows to Westchester County? Like indulging his friends in Mayfair Knollwood to destroy 108 units of affordable housing?
Like ignoring our infrastructure needs to rebuild bridges and roads? Like his failing to work with the Federal monitor overseeing the HUD settlement? Like borrowing funds to cover operating expenses? You cannot fool all of the people all of the time Rob. View Comment
Mr. Samis is right. Its time for Mr. Astorino to grow up, get behind the Settlement and fire his close advisors who keep feeding him the kool-aid that will lead to a Ken Jenkins victory. Memo to Rob - Westchester is no longer Mayfair-Knollwood.

A request that the developers look at the u-turn one has to make when leaving costco (going up stew leonard drive) as well as the no left turn exit from home depot was sluffed off. The u-turn is quite dangerous right now and should be looked at today. This has nothing to do with
Nimbyism - its a safety issue. View Comment
Greenburgh needs more than a nursery cleanup. We need to clean out the current lifers on the Town Board - all five of them known as
Duck
Dodge
Weave
Obfuscate

Hal Samis was for the most part a lone wolf crying out that oversight of the largest construction project in Town history was non-existent. Even the most organized civic group in unincorporated Greenburgh, the Edgemont Community Council, deferred to the Library Board and most importantly to town council members Juettner and Sheehan who steadfastly refused Samis' and to some lesser extent Feiner's requests for proper independent oversight. The view of the ECC is (which appears to remain), that whatever Feiner is for, they are against. Not that they have been wrong (Feiner has made plenty of costly mistakes), but at this time they were banking on Sheehan and Juettner to be a new power center to neutralize Feiner. Along these lines, the ECC felt there was nothing wrong with Juettner, a village resident, who pays no taxes for the Town library, to be the liaison from the Town Board to the Town Library. Not surprisingly, Juettner failed to attend numerous OAT (owner, architect, town) meetings while the library project was underway. Other than Samis, no one else challenged the nonsense spouted by Francis Sheehan that $175,000 had to be spent on a ramp for the handlicapped to access the library from Route 119.
While most of the commentators here seek replacement of the current Town Board members, like the heat that is absent from the library, the problem is the absense of candidates who can run a townwide election in a politically balkanized town which is half village and half unincorporated who possess the necessary skill sets to undo the damage 20 years of having the likes of Feiner and Juettner (the architects of the Fortress Bible disaster) in office.

this is from 2009 - tragic irony that Dr Posner is a researcher at Columbia:
Dr. Kelly Posner, who directs the suicide risk assessment program at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, said suicide is the second-leading cause of death in college students.
"Forty-nine percent of college students say they've been so depressed at any one time that they have trouble functioning. Fifteen percent will have met criteria for clinical depression. At least 10 percent will have seriously thought about suicide in any given year," said Posner. "So it's a major issue that's not particular to any one university but one we really need to address." so tragic and heartbreaking. however martha was on medication for depression and they left her all alone in a single room? depression is a serious illness that often leads to consequences like this. this did not have to happen. View Comment
is this news? the criminals working edgemont have known this for a while.
feiner knows this too - thats why he soaks Edgemont with high taxes.

paulin has become the new senator "pothole" of al d'amato infany
every month she sponsors these small bore bills which have a sliver of merit while the deadly unfunded state mandates, including phony field testing of students for private operators, go on and on.
this feel good legislation masks the truth - people are voting with their feet and leaving our state in droves because of high taxes and excessive regulatory zeal. paulin, who is adept at collecting stipends for chairing committees even though she never attended meetings or even held meetings, lacks the skills to stand up to her union backers and the other special pleaders and interests behind these state unfunded mandates. who will be left to buy our homes? mr feiner ran 20 years ago on a term limits platform. time and time again we have seen mr feiner arrogantly state that his town board can do whatever it wants, as a result we have seen the federal and the state constitutions repeatedly violated (see, fortress bible and valhalla cases). under feiner's watch town taxes have gone up dramatically. last year, town taxes for village residents went up 82%.
the problem with feiner is that he too busy reading his own laudatory press releases (or doing anything else to garner publicity) instead of listening to informed residents like bernstein and samis.
feiner is truly the problem creator and not the self described problem solver. the only problem to be solved in greenburgh is how do we get feiner out of office.

nor has it been governing. gadflying, twittering, facebooking, press releasing - that is his forte.
well this forte has met its match - the fortress bible disaster which, if the town loses its appeal should lead to the immediate resignation of mr feiner and his little dog too (ms juettner)

hal - you have just made it clear that in addition to being a terrible manager, feiner deserves an "F" in logic. as you correctly observed, if you oppose all the feinerist thinking, that doesnt make you wrong. in fact, given his history, it makes you a sage.
twenty years at the helm where he runs without opposition has left us with an arrogant pandering
Romneyesque character (meaning, one who will do anything to get elected) in charge of town government.
one would think that Feiner would have learned something about following the law after the Fortress Bible case, but true to form, Feiner recently violated your constitutional rights at a recent town board meeting.
sadly, feiner, like the town's departments, lacks internal controls.

other than being a poster child for term limits or edgemont incorporation, mr feiner's record is deplorable. he acted illegally and unconstitutionally in the fortress bible and valhalla cases, he has acted with extreme financial recklessness in the Westhelp ($800,000 in losses and counting) and the tree case (town vastly underinsured) as well as negligently in failing to maintain the town's infrastructure and visual appearance (including that ugly wall central avenue in front of webb field), with indifference to the campaign finance laws (see judy beville) and with complete indifference to the tax cert problem caused by his failure to conduct a revaluation which is significantly damaging the town's school districts. And this is just the short list.
bob and hal are right. they should be against everything feiner is for because feiner is a clear and present danger to the town and its taxpayers. the only way to work with him is finding him work outside of government. maybe some of his development benefactors have an opening? View Comment
hal - just disable that feature
your idea for a reassessment on sale is sound even though its a bit of rough justice.
on the downside its a bit of a welcome stranger and it will allow smarter buyers to factor that in to the sale price (today seller's just say the taxes can or are being grieved).
of course, once the taxes are revised after the sale the buyer can file a grievance. View Comment
feiner may not be at edgemont's throats but he certainly is picking their wallet
2.5 million dollars reserved for the fortress bible case! where is that $ coming from ? feiner and juettner who were behind this outrage should pay it themselves.
the water department disaster - again, the supervisor was busy with the tappan zee bridge and not governing greenburgh
hundreds of thousands lost because feiner walked away from westhelp lease renewal
the theodore young community center - thats a county facility and should not be paid for by unincorporated greenburgh and esp edgemont who covers 23% of the town's tax bill
leaf pickup, dromore, failure to digitalize property records so a townwide reassessment cannot be done - all more evidence of feiner's 20 year reign of error.
feinerist government is the poster child for edgemont incorporation.
