New forecast models have been released for the start-of-spring coastal storm expected to affect the area this coming week.

While the potential for a prolonged impact storm still exists, the newest models are showing a more suppressed storm track.

The European model (above) has a rain-snow line over the Interstate 95 corridor on Tuesday, the first day of spring, with some heavy snow (shown in pink) farther south.

The National Weather Service, in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued early Saturday morning, warned tristate area residents that the storm could potentially produce strong winds, heavy snow and coastal flooding Tuesday through Wednesday night.

The levels of impact and timing of the storm remain highly uncertain, added the National Weather Service.

A clearer picture of the severity and track of the storm is expected on Sunday.
