"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Village staff, Elmsford residents and myself, I would like to welcome Sports Authority to the village and wish them luck," said Williams, who will cut the grand opening ribbon. "We are very excited they chose to join our Elmsford family."

The new business fills the space at 295 E. Main St. where the old Syms building stands.

The Sports Authority has events planned all day including the ribbon cutting, jumpy castles, slot car raceway, a U.S. military event, games, food, fire trucks and the Alexander Hamilton High School band and sports celebrity guests.

The average Sports Authority typically employs about 35 workers, but this store, at about 58,000 square feet, is almost double the size of an average in the chain.
