Greenburgh Nature Center Golf Outing Raises $60,000

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Nature Center hosted its second annual Golf Outing & Reception on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at the Scardale Golf Club, which raised more than $60,000 to help support its mission which is to offer inspiring, hands-on environmental education experiences, to foster an appreciation of nature, and to promote sustainable practices.

Golfers and guests enjoyed a day of golf and evening dinner reception at the Scarsdale Golf Club, including a raffle and silent auction. Live music was performed by Carrie Feiner. The emcee for the evening was Lisa Salvadorini, the morning Anchor and Managing Editor at News 12, a community member and member of the Greenburgh Nature Center. Sponsors and business partners included Fidelity Investments, Fairview Golf Center, Cuddy & Feder LLP, M&T Bank, Westchester Magazine, Houlihan Lawrence (Scarsdale), Jake’s Wayback Burgers, Kawasaki Railcar, Klahr Glass Co., Members of Scarsdale Golf Club, TD Bank, A.G. Williams Painting Company, Inc., LJK Wallcoverings, Inc., Mutual of America, NEA Federal Credit Union, Rotary Club of Hartsdale, Woodard & Curran, Town of Greenburgh, Greenburgh Parks & Recreation, and Westchester County Parks.

The Nature Center is a 33-acre woodland preserve with trails, a pond, gardens, a playground, and outdoor animal exhibits, including a birds of prey aviary. Indoor exhibits include a live animal museum with more than 100 specimens, exhibit areas focusing on nature and the environment and a greenhouse with botanical exhibits.

The nature center offers special programs for groups of all ages on a wide range of environmental topics, camps and birthday parties, either on-site or at off-site locations. There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages and skill levels.

The Nature Center is at 99 Dromore Road, off Central Park Avenue, Scarsdale. Parking is free, and handicapped parking is available.
