Did You Know... Live Oak Engine No. 1 Mural

ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Did you know that the mural on the Live Oak Engine No. 1 wall was painted by volunteering students at Alexander Hamilton High School?

Seven students sacrificed their after-school and weekend hours for one month to paint and letter the wall. They were later honored by the Elmsford government for the work.

The idea came at the hands of the fire department's Captain Stephan Woehrle who thought that the wall at the front entrance looked bland. Captain Woehrle wanted to energize those that walked in, so he spoke to an old friend, Tom Blondel, Alexander Hamilton's art teacher, and asked him for help.

The Live Oak Engine No. 1 Fire House is located at 5 North Lawn Avenue.
