GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh Police have identified Darryl Chung, a 23-year-old Greenburgh resident, as the man who was killed in what is believed to be a fatal hit-and-run that occurred sometime between around midnight and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Greenburgh police department said it received a 911 call from a passing motorist of a man down on South Road. Patrol units responded to the area and discovered Chung on the grassy area in front of 57 South Road.

EMS units pronounced Chung deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that it may have been a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident, but Greenburgh detectives are conducting an investigation into the cause of death.

Investigators believe that Chung was struck in the back as he walked east along South Road. The vehicle involved should have damage on the front passenger portion of the vehicle in the area of the bumper and headlight, Greenburgh police said.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation are asked to call the Greenburgh Police at 914-989-1710.
