White Plains Man's Freedom Goes Up in Smoke

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A White Plains man has been slapped with a pair of criminal contempt charges after he allegedly woke a woman up by blowing smoke in her bedroom window.

Daniel Royster, 47, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, March 19, Greenburgh Police said.

Police said Royster appeared in the window at the home of a White Plains woman in the middle of the night and woke her up by blowing smoke into her bedroom window. When the victim awoke, Royster said "I’ve been watching you, boo," police said.  

Prior to that incident, the victim told police Royster called her home 12 to 15 times. The woman told police she answered the phone a few of the times to ask him to stop calling. 

Police said the victim had an order of protection in place.

The following items were also reported by Greenburgh police:

Unlicensed Operation: Police charged Tawfiq Bew of Peekskill with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, after a traffic stop at Benedict Avenue and White Plains Road at 7:34 a.m. March 17.

Marijuana Possession: Police charged a White Plains man with possession of marijuana, a violation, following a traffic stop on Longdale Avenue at 10:53 p.m. on March 18.
