Firearm Threat Leads To Lockdown At Edgemont High School

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Edgemont High School was temporarily locked down on Monday after an unknown suspect left a written message regarding the possession of a firearm, Greenburgh Police said.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., members of the Greenburgh Police Department were dispatched to the high school to investigate the isolated incident, as school administrators placed the school on lockdown to ensure student safety.

According to police, multiple departmental units with specialized training ins school safety, emergency management and investigations responded to Edgemont High School, working with administrators to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The lockdown was reduced to a “lockout” following the initial investigation, and the school returned to its normal schedule with minimal interruption.
