GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh police arrested Marlon Murray, a 33-year-old town resident, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, when 28 pounds of marijuana were discovered after an investigation.

Police said a search warrant was executed by the Greenburgh Police Department Drug and Alcohol Task Force and the Town of Greenburgh Police Department Street Crime Unit, relevant to an investigation into the distribution of marijuana in the Fairview section of this township.

Information was developed that a large quantity of marijuana would be shipped to an address via United Parcel Service during the afternoon of Aug. 5, according to police.

Police said the delivery was made to a residence on Maryton Road with the package left on the front stoop.

Police said Murray was then observed pulling into the driveway of the residence and exiting his vehicle. He then took possession of the package and placed it in the trunk of his car, according to police.

Police officers moved in and detained the suspect.

A search of the package confirmed the presence of marijuana. Police officers placed Murray under arrest without incident. Murray was charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana 1st degree, a class C felony.

He was arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court before Justice Delores Breathwaite, and held at  the Westchester County jail on $20,000 bail.

Murray is due to appear in town court on Friday, Aug. 8, at 9:30 a.m.
