Police said that at approximately 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, three suspects, one of which was in possession of a weapon, walked into a Verizon store on Central Avenue, robbing the location and fleeing in a white Jeep, leading to an investigation between multiple local and county law enforcement agencies.

On Wednesday, 32-year-old Diabel Samb and 24-year-old Mamadou Ndao were in Greenburgh Town Court where they were formally charged with a felony count of first-degree burglary.

The suspects traveled through Yonkers, on several Westchester parkways, and into the Bronx before coming to a stop in Mount Vernon on Tuesday. The Jeep suffered extensive front-end damage, while a county police vehicle sustained minor damage. Two of the suspects have since been apprehended and are to be handed over to the Greenburgh Police Department. A search for a possible third suspect was ongoing, but one was not apprehended.

The robbery, chase and police activity reportedly led to several Mount Vernon schools to enter their lockdown protocols. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 1 p.m. after the suspects were brought into police custody.
