Officers from the Yorktown Police Department received a report of the domestic incident shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at a Lockwood Avenue home.

During the subsequent investigation into the dispute, it was determined that Yorktown resident George Singelakis grabbed the throat of the woman, impeding her normal breathing and continued to choke her. He was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

Singelakis was charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal obstruction of breathing and arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court. Singelakis was released on $500 bail and is due back in court on March 13 to answer the charge.
