Stamford Teen Pleads Guilty To Armed Robbery That Led To Shooting

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 17-year-old Stamford resident pleaded guilty in connection with a drug deal turned armed robbery that ended with another teen getting shot in the chest last year, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Armoni Kelley pleaded guilty to first-degree armed robbery and faces up to eight years in prison, according to the Stamford Advocate. Kelley was arrested in November and has been in custody ever since, the Stamford Advocate reported.

The charges come from a marijuana deal that went wrong in late November, according to the Stamford Advocate. Three New Britain teens came to Stamford to sell a quarter-pound of marijuana to Kelley, police told the Stamford Advocate. When Kelley and 16-year-old Savior Dominguez met with the three of them, an argument broke out about the weight of the marijuana, and Dominguez ended up shooting one of the New Britain teens in the chest, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The 17-year-old New Britain resident recovered from the gunshot wounds, and the two Stamford teens were arrested, according to the Stamford Advocate. Dominguez was released on a $100,000 bond and is expected to make a plea on July 24, according to the Stamford Advocate. Kelley will be sentenced on Aug. 28, the Stamford Advocate reported.
