GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Elmsford Little League has captured the District 20 championship after defeating the team from Harrison by a score of 9-8, according to Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.
District 20 is composed of traveling all-star teams of 11- and 12-year-olds from Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Eastchester, Kensico, Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale, Sherman Park and White Plains in addition to Elmsford and Harrison, according to Feiner, who noted that Elmsford's District win is the first step toward Greenburgh having a team in the Little League World Series.
According to Feiner, it has been over 10 years since the team from Elmsford has won a District 20 championship.
"The Town Board would like to honor our champions at an upcoming Town Board meeting," Feiner said in a statement. "Hat's off to the champs."
