The drug collection unit, installed in cooperation with Westchester County, is meant to enhance the ability of residents to safely dispose of unused or unwanted prescription medication and over the counter drugs. Unused expired medication can pose a risk to children, family members and the environment. It can also be misused or abused, leading to serious complications, overdose and even death.
Westchester County has an ongoing "Take Back The Medication" program that assists those who wish to dispose of unused or expired drugs. The County often visits local communities to collect unused drugs. The Drug Collection Unit is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The drug take-back program allows the public to bring unused drugs to a central location for proper disposal.
The following items will not be accepted: Hydrogen Peroxide, thermometers, needles (sharps), medication from businesses or clinics, aerosol cans, ointments, lotions or liquids. Greenburgh Police Headquarters is located at 188 Tarrytown Road.
